Our Story
As a young girl, Elaine Walker shared her life
with several senior citizens. She enjoyed spending time with
them, helping them with errands and taking the opportunity to
learn from their wisdom and experience. As she entered adulthood,
she knew that she was destined to become a caregiver.
Trained as a nursing assistant, she has worked with seniors in
many settings, including hospitals, nursing homes and home care
placements. Having seen the effects of caregivers who lack genuine
kindness and compassion, Elaine and her daughter, Opal Rowe,
decided to establish their own home care business – a business
where care is a passion.
Opal brings a diverse business background to Nowhere
Like Home. Holding a degree in hotel management, Opal’s goal
is always to provide the best possible service for clients. Her
experience in the hospitality industry, where service is the first
priority, translates well to home care. Opal holds herself and
her business to very high standards and promises to exceed her
clients’ expectations for quality service.
Opal has assembled a board of likeminded individuals
who wanted to see home care made easy, flexible and affordable.
Senior managers in a range of businesses, they are a working board,
involved with all aspects of the business. Like Opal and Elaine,
each board member believes in the Nowhere Like Home philosophy
of care and gives generously of their time to support the communities
in which they live and work.
